Women’s Studies – Benefriends- Friends by Day, Lovers by Night -Talk will highlight research being done at EWU on “friends with benefits relationships” (FWBR). EWU psychology students, Koby Binks and Kristina Hooper, with their advisor professor Theresa J. Martin, PhD, will be reviewing initial results from a study investigating Machiavellianism and attitudes toward FWBR relationships along with key points and findings from current literature and describing the rationale and issues for our study. A sub-focus of our ongoing study is to determine the negotiation techniques of FWBRs and how the partnership is initiated.

Art, Power, Women and Leadership: Fabric artist Denise Roberson believes in the power of women. She expresses this power through dolls to remind herself and others that women are incredibly strong and need not negate our power and our talents. EWU Africana studies faculty, Angela Schwcndiman will give a brief overview analyzing the enduring African American stereotype in popular films regarding the myth of the female-headed household and the insights those films provide into the male psyche.
