Teddy Bear Drive: Office of Global Initiatives

The Office of Global Initiatives is participating in the 26 Days of Kindness event between Feb. 14 and March 11 to commemorate the 26 lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn. Like many of the departments throughout campus who will be focusing on a specific goal in their acts of kindness, OGI will be holding a “Teddy Bear Drive.”

Students, faculty, staff and all members of the EWU community are welcome to donate their new or lightly used stuffed animals. There will be four drop-off spots on campus, including Hargreaves Hall (outside of room 103), the PUB, Showalter Hall (outside of room 115) and Senior Hall (near the front entrance).

The goal is to collect 26 stuffed animals per day for 26 days, reaching an approximate goal of 676 stuffed animals. OGI will be donating all of the stuffed animals to Sally’s House Foster Care in Spokane. Sally’s House is a home for children who have suffered from abuse and/or neglect, whose parents were arrested, or there was drug use or drug bust in home. Sally’s House provides a safe and warm environment in order for children to feel protected and comfortable.
