- drowsiness
- loss of inhibitions
- decreased nausea
- increased appetite
- loss of coordination
- blood shot eyes
- dryness of the eyes, mouth and throat
- anxiety and paranoia
The long-term effects of cannabis may include:
- increased risk of respiratory diseases assoicated with smoking, including cancer
- decreased memory and learning abilities
- decreased motivation in areas such as studying, work or concentration

In 2012, Washington state voters passed a law making it legal for adults over 21 years of age to possess and use small amounts of marijuana.
Marijuna – including medical marijuana – use by EWU students, employees or the general public is not allowed anywhere on the EWU campus, including residence halls. Even though legal in Washington, marijuana is still illegal under federal law. The University follows the federal Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (20 USC 1145g). It is illegal to sell, produce, distribute or use marijuana on EWU property or during school sanctioned events.
Marijuana use on the EWU campus has consequences under the EWU Student Conduct Code and state law.
