Three Finalists for Dean of Libraries

Provost Rex Fuller, on behalf of the search committee, is pleased to announce that three individuals  have been selected as finalists for the position of Dean of Libraries at Eastern Washington University.

  • Mr. Rickey Best holds a Master’s in Library and Information Studies from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master’s in Public History/Archival Management from the University of California at Riverside. Currently, Mr. Best serves as the Collection Development Librarian at Auburn University at Montgomery. His prior professional experience was also from Auburn University and includes serving as the Dean of the Library, Head of Technical Services, Acquisitions/Collection Development Librarian, and Archivist/Special Collections Librarian.
  • Ms. Suzanne Milton holds a Master’s of Library Science from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Arts in German from California State University, Long Beach. Currently, she is the head of Reference Services and faculty chair at EWU’s JFK Libraries. Prior to joining Eastern in 1992, Ms. Milton worked with the Inland Northwest Council of Libraries in Spokane and spent five years in the corporate sector as a librarian at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas, National Realty Advisors, and the Dallas Museum of Art.
  • Mr. Xiaoxing Zhang holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science from Dominican University in Chicago. Currently he serves as Executive Deputy Director for the National Cultural Information Management Center of the People’s Republic of China, following his service as the Deputy Director of the National Library of China. His prior professional experience includes serving as Assistant Librarian for the National Library of China, Librarian for the Los Angeles Public Library, and Information/Automation Consultant for the Libraries at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
