EWU Pride Center Fall Events

The EWU Pride Center is kicking off the 2013-14 academic year with two exciting events.

PRIDE CENTER BACK TO SCHOOL KICK-OFF CONCERT featuring Beverly McClellan
Thursday, October 3

Singer/songwriter Beverly McClellan, a finalist on NBC-TV’s “The Voice”, will be performing for the Pride Center’s Back to School Kick-off Concert. Born in East Tennessee and raised in Virginia, Beverly plays more than 10 instruments and has a soulful sound that has been compared to such artists as Etta James, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt and Melissa Etheridge. Beverly will be sharing songs from her previous four albums, as well as her latest international release, “Fear Nothing.”

NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY LECTURE featuring Chely Wright

From high-school homecoming queen to successful recording artist, singer, Chely Wright recorded “Single White Female,” “Shut Up and Drive” and “Jezebel,” rising to the top of the country music world before she became the first country music singer to come out of the closet. Chely will be screening her Emmy Nominated documentary “Wish Me Away”, answering questions and signing copies of her book “Like Me.”

This is the Pride Center’s first event on the Riverpoint Campus and it is made possible through the collaboration between the EWU Pride Center, EWU SAIL, Eagle Entertainment, WSU Spokane, WSU GIESORC (Gender Identity/Expression Sexual Orientation Resource Center) and Students United for LGBTQIA Empowerment on the Riverpoint campus.
