Although summer is hard to imagine with snow covering the ground and this month's below-freezing temperatures, Brenda Blazekovic is gearing up for Summer Session at EWU. Read more about Summer Session in a Q&A with Blazekovic below.
What is Summer Session?
Summer Session at EWU provides students the opportunity to accelerate their graduation timeline. They can take courses in their major, satisfy pre-requisites for an upcoming quarter or finish up on some general education requirements. The accelerated courses, four- and eight-week sessions, enables a student to work toward their degree while still having time to enjoy summer.
Summer has open enrollment which means adults in the community and college students coming home can enroll. EWU credits are easily transferrable to other colleges!
- March 9: Skate into Summer at the EWU URC – ‘80s theme skate event with prizes for best costumes, ‘80s music and fun!
- April 17: Join the Summer team at the EWU Mall area to kick off Summer registration
- Watch for a great event with the Bookstore!
What is your role at Summer Session?
As director of Summer Session, I will be working closely with both EWU faculty and students in working toward the goal of providing great courses that will enable students to catch up or get ahead with their graduation goals. I am thrilled to be a part of a program that is so vital to the success of not only EWU students, but also the members of the community.
Why is Summer Session beneficial to current students?
Summer Session is a great environment to focus on a challenging course with increased student-faculty interaction. It's also easier to enroll in courses that are normally “full” during the traditional academic year. Going home for the summer? Working full time? From accounting to women’s studies, EWU has a great selection of online courses to meet the needs of students. Summer at EWU is a great opportunity to work, study and play all while accelerating your degree completion time!
