Eastern Washington University Gallery of Art is pleased to present A Look Back, a retrospective exhibition of works in mixed media by Dan McCann, March 16 – April 27, 2017. An opening reception will be held Wednesday, March 15, at noon in the EWU Gallery of Art.
Spokane artist Dan McCann has been making and exhibiting his artwork for thirty years. As a self taught artist, McCann began working in glass in the early 1970s designing and building stained glass windows and creating a line of fused glass jewelry. In the early 1990s, McCann felt his work in glass had begun to stagnate, and he moved into working in mixed media. Today McCann uses a variety of materials and found objects tailored to the content of the art. McCann’s intent is to establish a relationship with the objects by using arbitrary objects to create order and visual impact.
