The sixth annual Diversity and Inclusion Week kicked off Monday, featuring the President's Dialogue on Diversity: Whose Bathroom Is It Anyway? The celebration continues throughout the week with various speakers and events, including a presentation, panel discussion and book signing with the Lacks family Wednesday, May 10, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Powers Reading Room, Hargreaves 201.
Members of Henrietta Lacks' family (great-granddaughter Victoria Baptiste and grandson Alfred Carter, Jr.) will present at the event and participate in a moderated panel discussion led by Scott Finnie, PhD, and Leah Nemeth. A book signing will be available afterward.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks spent 75 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list, and showcases science writing, ethical issues of race and class, and moving stories of Henrietta Lacks' descendants.
