Eastern Washington University will host the first public listening session Monday evening, Feb. 12, as it launches the search for a new Director of Athletics.
The Public Forum will be held from 6-7 p.m., in room 122 of the EWU Center on the EWU Spokane Campus.
Search Committee Co-Chairs Scott Gordon, the university provost, and Judge Jim Murphy, who sits on the EWU Board of Trustees, want to get feedback from the public – including alumni and supporters – on what they hope to see in a new Athletic Director.
Gordon and Murphy will also host a campus constituent listening forum from 3:30-5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, in Patterson Hall, Room 110 on the Cheney campus.
They will then host a second public listening session in Cheney on Thursday, Feb. 15, after the EWU-Montana basketball game. That meeting will take place from 8-9 p.m., in the Reese Court Wrestling Room.
The public is also invited to submit their thoughts at ewu.edu/adfeedback.
The Search Committee will hold its first formal meeting to review feedback and discuss its timeline and process for future meetings on March 16. The committee hopes to wrap up the search by the end of April or early May.
EWU is looking for a new athletic director after Bill Chaves departed for the University of North Dakota last month, after 10 years leading the department on the Cheney campus.
