In the Spotlight is an opportunity for the campus community to get to know one another better. The goal is to build Eastern’s community by becoming familiar with the faces of faculty and staff members.
Title: Forms and Records Analyst
Number of years at Eastern: I began attending EWU in 2008 and loved it so much I decided to stay.
Brief personal/professional description: I have lived in Cheney for 16 years and have felt as though EWU is a home away from home for nearly as long. I was homeschooled and when I was 12 my mother decided to return to college. During this time, I would accompany her to campus and came to know several professors, all of whom would happily offer contributions to my education. I earned a B.A. in philosophy with a Minor in religious studies and continued for an M.A. in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Technical Communication. While I was working on my English degree, I began working for the Education Department and upon graduating was fortunate enough to have a full time position collecting and managing records and data, developing forms and maintaining web content. Including my time as a student, I have been with the Education Department for nearly six years.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking (especially Italian food), playing the bass (upright and guitar), reading just about anything I can get my hands on, and spending time with friends.
Favorite book: It is a tie between The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Favorite movie: Harvey. Jimmie Stewart is one of my favorite actors and I appreciate how, at its core, the movie is about acceptance and friendship with a certain folksy wisdom.
Favorite restaurant: The Marketplace, here in Cheney.
Favorite quote: “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” Audrey Hepburn.
Favorite vacation: Anywhere as long as I am with family and friends.
If I could do anything today I would: Make someone smile.
