EWU's campus mall was decorated with thank you cards and refreshments on May 31 in celebration of "Thank a Donor Day." Spearheaded by EWU's Annual Giving, the event invited students to sign a thank you card for EWU's private donors. Students stopped by in between classes to sign cards and grab a coffee or lemonade.
"When we run out of state funding, we receive funds from private donors for things like scholarships and building renovations," said EWU student Madasyn Conner, who helped plan the event as part of her senior capstone. "Thank a Donor Day gives people the opportunity to write a handwritten thank you, which we then mail out individually."
Conner assisted Kyndell White, assistant director of EWU's Annual Giving, in putting on the event.
"Kyndell came to our class and spoke about this specific event, which I chose as my senior project," said Conner. "We went to Panhellenic meetings and IFC meetings and I helped her with flyers and getting the word out. I'm going to be here next year and I plan to continue doing events like this."
