Diversity encompasses all of the characteristics and life experiences students bring with them into each class: race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and identity, economic background, religion, spirituality, geography, country of origin, language, disability, world-view, learning and communication style, physical characteristics (such as height and weight), and emotional/ psychological attributes. It includes people from minority and atypical backgrounds as well as those who are considered typical, mainstream, or dominant. No one is excluded. Each of us has areas of skilled expertise, and areas of limited ability.
Nowadays, it seems as if every bureaucracy is pushing us to accommodate every physical and mental diversity known to humankind.
