Explicit and Easily Available Program
Provide explicit and easily available program materials such as course offerings, and timetables, prerequisites, specific completion and graduation requirements, and program due dates and deadlines. Include tools such as checklists for students to check progress toward meeting requirements.
Provide Structured Feedback
Implement mechanisms to provide structured feedback relative to course and departmental expectations and progress toward meeting expectations. These may include forms that require advisor meetings or signatures to track progress.
Map of Program Benchmarks
Provide a map of program benchmarks against which students can assess their personal progress towards completion of requirements. This may include an outline of dates courses are offered (and not offered) that students can use to measure their progress towards graduation. These resources are especially important in times of diminishing resources and fewer course offerings.
Identify Student Resources
Identify student resources that can aid their success. This may be especially important for first generation, low income, disabled, and other “at-risk” students who may not be aware of them. Resources may include student writing centers, mental health services, peer mentoring, disability support centers, and financial aid. EWU Resources
