Happy & Safe Halloween!
Halloween is one of the most popular and celebrated holidays among many. When heading out this Halloween, use these tips to keep your holiday safe and fun.
- Make your costume comfortable
Halloween costumes let you be anything you want for a night. Just remember that you’ll likely be wearing your costume for a long time, so ask yourself: Are these shoes going to hurt my feet? Am I going to be cold on this chilly Cheney night? The more comfortable you are, the more fun you’ll have!
- Stay together
There’s strength in numbers, plus going out with friends is way more fun than going alone. If you and your friends are going to a party, try and stick together. Look out for each other and make sure everyone gets home safely.
- Drink responsibly
If you choose to drink, make sure you’re smart about it. Before you go out, set a limit and stick to it. Alternate alcohol with water, keep track of how much you’re drinking, and never accept a drink if you don’t know what’s in it. You never know what could be in that witches’ brew.
- Keep your phone on
Make sure your phone is charged before you head out to celebrate, and keep it with you all night. If you get separated from your friends or need to call for help, you’ll want to have your phone in easy reach.
- Have a safe ride home
Before you even leave the house, make sure you know how you’re getting back home. Never drink and drive, and don’t get in a car with anyone who has had anything to drink. If you feel unsafe getting home at the end of the night, EWU police can escort you back to your residence hall or apartment.
- Trust your instincts
On Halloween, and every other night of the year, if something doesn’t feel right, trust your gut. Leave the party, don’t accept that drink, or just say no to anything that makes you uneasy. At the end of the night, your safety is more important than anyone’s fun.
