Well… Like I said in an ealier blog, I got a kitten recently. My roommate and I were thrilled and still love her, but we did not expect her to be psycho and run around like a crazy thing! To get even my roommates boyfriend would hide around corners and jump out when she came near and scare her. This happened just about everytime he c0uld catch her and we would all die laughing her jumping a couple feet in the air out of fright. Well, awesome for me my cat is vindictive and it wasn’t long before she got even. She now will wait for you to come and is hiding around a corner and will leap out and wrap yourself around you leg and bite or claw.
It started by him catching her every second he could, then my cat started to just do it when I would walk into my room and then it progressed to ANYTHING she can hide behind she will now leap out, although now it has evolved to jumping as high as she can in the air doing a high pitch meow and then landing in front of you and mauling your shin. Well even though this wasn’t fun to be attacked, I would still laugh and she got rewarded with getting picked up and pet or played with. Although, after about four months of this routine and the frequency has not reduced, the praise for it has, but she will still get me pretty good sometimes and she will get rewarded. Therefore, she thinks that I enjoy it and LOVES the attention she gets sometimes. This is a Variable-Ratio Schedule (VR) because it is not a set amount of responses or a set schedule in which she receives praise or catches me walking around a corner.
