Looks like my dog Jess is the subject of yet another blog. We got Jess when he was about 6 years old. He had been found as a stray and lived in the pound for about 3 years before we got him. We are so blessed to have such a sweet, smart, and loving dog, and he’s so convienent as the star of my blogs!
Jess, like any other dog, had been taught to come when his name is called. Well, as we adopted Jess, we didn’t get to pick his name. We’ve discovered one of the funny side effects of having a dog called Jess is that everytime someone says something that sounds like his name, (especially “Yes”) within his earshot, he comes running like he’s been called. This makes watching football in our house extra interesting, as anytime the Packers do something awesome, (which this year is all the time!) and I shout out, “YES!” Jess tears out of whatever room he’s in and heads for the living room looking for whoever called his name. It’s so cute, and we laugh everything it happens.
In this example, Jess has generalized the sound of his name being called to words that sound like his name, such as “yes.”
