The EWU hockey team found themselves in Eugene, Ore. Jan. 23-24,where the Eagles stomped the University of Oregon Ducks 6-2 and 8-2to improve EWU’s overall record to 18-3 on the season,ranking EWU fifth in the ACHL West Region.
The scoring Jan. 23 was well distributed with all six goals scoredby different players.
Powell Gallagher led the way with one goal and two assists. RyanShearer and Dave O’Donnell both tallied one goal and anassist. Kyle Dedden and Rocky Ellenson combined for four assists onthe night.
Mike Kain, Shaun White and Sean Gallagher each contributed a goalas goalie Matt Pippinger made 23-of-25 saves for his sixth win ofthe season.
The second game, held Jan. 24, showcased domination by the Eaglesin Eugene which controlled the puck at times. In the third period,EWU held the Ducks to four shots, keeping the puck inOregon’s zone and out-shot UO 49-25 in the game.
EWU’s Dave O’Donnell and Sean Gallagher, PowellGallagher and Shaun White led an offensive attack, combining forsix goals and five assists. Ryan Yaden had a goal, followed by JohnVivirito’s two assists and Tim Buczak’s one assist.Charlie Rhodes scored his first goal of the year.
Goalie Arron Halvorson held off 23-of-25 shots from theDuck’s attack, winning his fourth game of the season.
