The Women’s Commission Open Forum will meet Feb. 24 at 3:30 p.m. in Monroe 207 to listen to concerns brought up by students, faculty and staff.
After the Women’s Commission hears the concerns brought to their attention, they take them to President Jordan and discuss the problem and possible solutions.
Sally Winkle, director of the Women’s Studies program, said that at the forum they will most likely be talking about the Violence Against Women Grant, and how it should be used.
Golie Jansen wrote the grant in conjunction with the violence against women task force and the money is supposed to go towards changing the campus climate toward women.
Winkle said that they don’t necessarily have ideas set on what they’re going to be talking about. The format of an open forum means that anyone can bring forward any concerns that they have or issues that are of relevant to them, and they will be listened to and addressed.
“We want students, faculty and staff to come to the open forum and bring any issue that is of relevance to them,” she said.
Winkle said that the forums usually last about an hour and a half.
