The Cheney Police Department and the Cheney Fire Department responded to and accident that took place on Cheney Plaza Road Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the car was heading West on 1st Street and knocked out the turn too sharply, causing the car to run through a railroad crossing sign and crash into a power pole.
The impact snapped the power line between two poles and took out power to about 400 Cheney residents in the downtown and industrial park areas. Cheney Light Foreman Joe Noland helped to restore power to most residents in about an hour. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was cited for DUI.
