Eastern’s second annual fashion show in the PUB MPR last Wednesday attracted many students looking to sport the new styles for spring.
Between the snacks and refreshments provided, the creatively decorated stage and catwalk, and the dance and hip hop music blasting from DJ Ice’s turntable, the club-like atmosphere was perfect for the models ready to show off the new looks.
Jamie Kent, an Eagle Entertainment staff member, was one of the main coordinators of the WYSIWIG sponsored event. Modeling for the show is purely voluntary, and any student is eligible to participate.
The 10 models wore clothes from Mariposa, Maurices, and the EWU bookstore. Each of the guys modeled two outfits, while the girls each modeled four.
Co hosts Jerod Grant and Tom Hanrahan, a.k.a. DJ Bo, kept the audience entertained with their unrelenting enthusiasm. One of the models, Mark, described his outfit from Maurices as “skater” jeans and a vintage tee.
For Amber, this was her second year modeling for Eastern, and one of the outfits she presented were pinstriped pants and a white shirt from Mariposa.
While the show featured many men’s vintage and logo-bearing T-shirts and faded jeans by Industrial Exchange and Hydraulic, a few of the models wore classy, button-up shirts. Cargo shorts are also a must for the approaching warm weather.
Some of the outfits shown off by the girls included a three quarter sleeve shirt with a slinky flower-print skirt, a pink and white striped polo with very short white shorts, a plaid button up shirt with a white tank top underneath and khaki capris, and brown corduroy shorts.
The business-wear portion of the show featured black dress pants with jacket and black pinstripe pants with a white button-up shirt.
For a more flirty look, there were pleated skirts, a black dress with a white bow, and a red strap tank top. All of these outfits can be found at Mariposa.
Eastern’s bookstore introduced cotton and fleece zip-ups, sweatpants and shirts, matching sweat suits, track jackets, T-shirts and shorts, all with the Eastern logo imprinted on them.
For the last segment, featuring evening wear from Mariposa, many different styles and colors were presented.
Long gowns in turquoise, yellow with sparkles, and orange were the first shown, while a very short hot-pink dress and a brown polka-dotted strapless finished off the show with excited reactions from the crowd.
