05/18 12:53 a.m. Two male subjects were turning the corner of the Gamma Phi Beta house on College Street when they saw four males fighting on the ground. The two males broke up the fight and the two males who apparently had been the aggressors left toward downtown Cheney to go to the bars. The other two males stayed behind, one seriously injured. The seriously injured male stated that he was visiting his sister, who was a part of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, from out of town, when he and two other males got into a verbal altercation which then turned violent. The male was transported to Deaconess Medical Center by a private party for further treatment.
05/19 11:38 a.m. An instructor in Huston Hall was upset with construction happening in the floor above him. He decided to confront the construction workers and began yelling at them, saying that he was trying to teach a class and they need to try to be quiet. No arrests were made.
05/19 1:25 p.m. A towel dispenser had been knocked off the wall in the men’s bathroom on the second floor of Showalter Hall. In addition to the dispenser, a post with a button for the disabled persons’ entrance had also been knocked down. Police suspect that the damage was caused during a function which had been held there that week. No suspects have been identified.
05/19 2:51 p.m. A male student met another male subject at Gatto’s Pizza to sell a computer. After the male subject looked over the computer for a half an hour, the male bought it from the student for $1,750. About an hour later, the male subject called the student claiming that the computer no longer worked and proceeded to threaten the student. Because the situation was a civil matter, no arrests were made.
05/20 9:45 p.m. EWU Police were assisting the Cheney Police Department with a seat belt check off of Cocolalla Street when they performed a traffic stop. The male driver, who did not have a seat belt on but claimed that he did, smelled heavily of marijuana. Once searched, police found a small bag of marijuana in his pocket. When asked if he possessed any other drugs, the driver told police that there was cocaine in the console of his vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, about a gram of cocaine was found. Police ran a field sobriety test for cocaine and marijuana which came up positive. The driver was arrested by Cheney Police.
05/21 10:19 a.m. Police responded to a possible suicidal subject at a downtown Cheney apartment complex. Apparently the parents of the adult subject were trying to get their son out of his room, but he locked the door and refused to come out. Apparently the male had previous mental health issues and previous suicide attempts. He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.
05/23 10:33 p.m. EWU Police assisted the Cheney Police Department with a possible assault in progress at Wild Bill’s Long Bar. A male and a female were arguing over who was going to drive home; apparently the male was intoxicated. Once police made contact with the male, he began cussing at the officer and police witnessed him pushing the female. The male was arrested for assault in the fourth degree.
05/24 7:45 p.m. Police responded to LA Hall after receiving a call about a possible domestic violence dispute. A male and a female were engaged in a verbal altercation which resulted in the female hitting the male in the chest in an attempt to get him to leave. The female was arrested for assault in the fourth degree.
