“How do I keep my hair from looking greasy the day after I wash it?”
The simple answer is to use a dry shampoo. Well, the simplest answer is to just wash your hair every day. But, when there isn’t time, dry shampoo will do the trick.
“For some people, that’s just the way their hair is,” said Karen S. Jones, hairdresser at Identity Hair Salon. “If she’s an oily person, there’s nothing she can do unless she uses dry shampoo.”
With a dry shampoo, you spray the product directly into your hair and then brush it through. The powder absorbs the extra oil from your scalp and hair to reduce the greasy look and feeling. The do-it-yourself version of a dry shampoo is to apply baby powder over your scalp and brush it through your strands thoroughly. “That’s kind of like what those dry shampoos are,” Jones said.
“Sometimes my hair feels sticky or waxy after I use certain shampoos. Is it my hair type or my shampoo?”
“It’s probably the shampoo because some other shampoos have a wax in them and it could be a build-up on his hair … I would use a clarifying shampoo,” recommended Jones.
A clarifying shampoo will also work for those with a greasy scalp for the days when you do wash your hair. “That’s going to remove any build-up from shampoo, hairspray, products and it’s going to clean the scalp really good. It’s like a deep cleansing shampoo.”
Most of the popular hair care brands have a clarifying line of products.
