The Easterner Newspaper Moves to Online Only — and is Hiring

You may have noticed the news racks that typically carry copies of The Easterner have been empty this quarter. Due to a reduced budget, EWU’s independent, student-run newspaper is, for now, online only.

Despite the fiscal challenges, Editor-in-Chief Randle Kinswa says Easterner staff are still committed to covering all the campus news, adding that “student life is our number one goal” when it comes to chronicling EWU’s return to in-person instruction and events. This includes, he says, coverage of ASEWU and other key issues that impact students.

The paper is also hiring, specifically looking for two editors/reporters and one skilled photographer. The positions are salary-based, not hourly. If interested, please contact Kinswa at easterner.sports@gmail.com.

You can read The Easterner at https://theeasterner.org/, which is updated with fresh stories Tuesday through Friday of each week. You can also engage with Easterner content on Twitter (@_TheEasterner), Facebook or Instagram. Or connect in person at the paper’s new office space, PUB Room 335.
