It seems matters of racism and resegregation are re-emerging as a prevalent concern in today’s society, specifically with current events taking place in the south. Aside from the “Jena 6” controversy in Louisiana, a student rezoning plan being applied in the Tuscaloosa, Ala.
With the sale of Eastern Washington University’s Spokane Center underway, EWU’s administration is looking to expand its Riverpoint campus in more ways than one. Not only will Riverpoint be expanding due to the housing of the Spokane Center’s students and faculty come next fall quarter, but the administration is also looking to increase access to existing programs and student services, as well as developing new programs and partnerships with other universities.
One of the most anticipated celebrations of EWU’s spring quarter is finally just around the corner. The 39th Annual EWU Spirit of the Eagle Powwow, in affiliation with the Native American Student Association, can be considered a universal celebration which encourages the diversity of EWU as well as student engagement and retention.
But given a deeper look, the Cheney Fire Department is a unique organization of people who have a strong desire to help others and give back to the community. What makes this department even more unique is the demographic they predominantly service: young college students at EWU.
