Fifteen Eastern students and faculty, who were the winners of an essay/poetry contest at EWU earlier this year, will be reading their works May 30 at the JFK Auditorium, where Martin Espada will be presenting his lecture on the idea of writing as a tool for democracy.
Grant proposals, based on action plans, are now being accepted by the Strategic Planning Council, and the deadline to apply is Friday, May 23. An action plan is a unit’s short-range effort to implement its strategic plan. A strategic plan outlines the unit’s broad objectives for three to five years, whereas an action plan details what the unit intends to do during the next two years.
The Ironman Challenge, an event coordinated by the EWU Exercise Science Club, is scheduled from May 4-23. Students can sign up for the event at the University Bookstore and can receive further instructions there as well. The event requires participants to complete 2.
The 2007 season saw the toast of Colorado, the Rockies, sweep their way through the playoffs and into the World Series, only to get swept right back out by the Boston Red Sox and Josh Beckett. When Beckett is on during playoff time, the Red Sox remain the team to beat in the A.
Today my host quoted, “You must think this is Alaska!” He is referring to the two-day-long “cold spell” that cooled Volusia County this week, and it hopefully culminated today. But even with the wind, the temperature never really drops too deep here, it’s just that Floridians have a much different definition of cold than we do in the Northwest.
