Congratulations to Our Newest Teacher of the Month!
We all have memories of a favorite teacher; someone who took the time to help us succeed, who was willing to answer our every question, who challenged us to see things from a different perspective, who stayed after school to read every last essay, or who believed in us even when we did not believe in ourselves. When a teacher gives of him- or herself, their efforts and hard work should be recognized. Congratulations to all recipients and many thanks to their students, KHQ and our sponsor, STCU!
November 2018 Teacher of the Month, Austin Miller, Sprague High School. Keep inspiring!
What is the Teacher of the Month Program?
The Teacher of the Month Program is a collaboration between Eastern Washington University's Education Department, KHQ Local News, and Spokane Teachers Credit Union to recognize local teachers for their excellence. Each month one teacher is selected and representatives of the Education Department, KHQ, and STCU will visit the winning teacher's school to celebrate.
Nominations are accepted from a student, a group of students, or parents of students with special needs, though we do prefer letters from the student directly whenever possible. Please write a letter and send it directly to the EWU Education Department for consideration.
Who Can be Nominated?
Any teacher in an elementary, middle or high school in Washington State or North Idaho is eligible.
How Can I Nominate My Teacher?
Nominating your teacher is easy! Please write a letter telling us what makes your teacher special and mail the letter to:
