“Success is people who love their life. It’s people who can’t wait for Monday!”
“People driven by passion and purpose outperform people driven by a paycheck.””
“Why do your dream and your life have to be separate?”
“You have to work harder than your dream is big!”
Jeff Hoffman, CEO and Founder, ColorJar (and formerly of Priceline and others)
Entrepreneurship happens everywhere! Entrepreneurs come from all backgrounds, including engineering and technology innovation, computer sciences, music, art, business, education, and virtually all other backgrounds you can imagine, as well as from personal hobbies. There is even a well-documented category called “accidental entrepreneurs,” who simply began solving a problem that mattered to them, personally, and then discovered that many others would like to have their solution, too. What all successful entrepreneurs have in common is that they serve a higher purpose. They have found a problem worth solving, or worth solving better, and they are passionate about and dedicated to developing a superior solution. They solve problems that affect many, they bring new delights few anticipated they were missing, and they change the world and transform lives. That is why we describe entrepreneurship as a set of skills and competencies that empower individuals to change the world in which they live!
The EWU Center for Entrepreneurship exists to support, encourage, and develop members of the EWU community who have an idea but need help to transform it into a venture.
