EWU 2015-17 State Legislative Priorities

EWU is a significant engine powering the state. A public university whose students, faculty, staff and alumni make profound and significant contributions to the economic and social vitality of the region, EWU remains the best value for higher education in the state. PRIORITY #1 REINVEST IN HIGHER EDUCATION, $198 MILLION ($19 MILLION FOR EWU) Washington’s six public universities are committed to continuing a freeze in undergraduate resident tuition with a new investment of $198 million in our sector. PRIORITY #2 SUPPORT A NEW EWU SCIENCE BUILDING, $72 MILLION A new science building will enable Eastern Washington University to expand STEM programs. Nearly half of STEM majors are first-generation students; an equivalent number are from low-income families.
