Eastern Washington University’s Department of Government Relations’ goal is to promote the campus community’s mission, interests and needs. EWU Government Relations identifies, coordinates and advances the university’s interests to elected officials both in Olympia and the nation’s capital.
David Buri, a former member of the Washington State House of Representatives (9th district), knows the importance of building relationships with elected officials and their dedicated, hard-working staffs. He and President Cullinan collaborate with all of Washington’s public baccalaureate institutions to present a unified and focused voice for higher education to the Washington State legislature.
Alicia Kinne-Clawson (EWU alum–2007) has experience at both the state and federal level in higher education policy. Since graduating from EWU she has earned her Master’s in Public Policy at the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs at UW and is nearing completion of her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership–also at UW.
Alicia and David work alongside President Cullinan to advocate for EWU’s legislative priorities.
