Some of the most valuable assets of the EWU Libraries are collections donated by individuals who have spent lifetimes building a body of work. Please note, the EWU Libraries asks for a monetary donation, if possible, with any body of work donated for processing and digitization to provide preservation and accessibility of the material.
If you have a collection you would like to donate, or have questions about submitting your work to the EWU Archive, please contact the Libraries’ University Archivist, Charles V. Mutschler, PhD, 509.359.2475.
Scholarly Materials, Book Donations
EWU Libraries welcomes donation inquiries of scholarly materials.
- We accept relevant, scholarly items in new or very good condition that support our curriculum and are not part of our current collection.
- We are unable to accept newspapers, items in poor or damaged condition, or old textbooks.
- We also do not accept items in outdated formats, like VHS tapes or CD-ROMs.
Please note that gifts are accepted unconditionally; EWU Libraries reserves the right to determine the disposition of the donated materials. Unwanted materials are sold, donated or recycled. EWU Libraries is unable to provide donors with appraisals of the gifts for tax purposes. If a donor requires an appraisal, it is recommended the donor consult an independent appraiser prior to donation, or create a list of titles to check against used book seller inventories for approximate current valuations.
To discuss making a donation to the EWU Libraries, please contact Andy Eickholt, Collection Management Librarian, 509.359.7032.
Please note that an inventory (or at least a sample inventory) will be the first item requested.
