Events

  • Brown Bag Lunches
    • The MSWSA has guest speakers at monthly meetings in Cheney and Riverpoint, who present information about topics of interest to MSW students. Taking place at 12pm, these presentations provide students an opportunity to network and learn more about their field from professionals in the field. Students are welcome to bring their lunches to the events.  Times, dates and locations will be announced on the Facebook page and Canvas. To get involved, contact the officers or faculty advisors listed under Our Team.
  • Community
    • Community outreach and service is a big part of the MSWSA. Students are encouraged to take part in planning and implementing activities such as food drives and school supply drives. As well as volunteering in the community, participating in the MLK march, and other student led community events.  Members are encouraged to share with others local community events and encourage participation. To get involved, contact the Community Outreach Chair.
  • Lobby Day
    • Annually, there are opportunities for students to lend their voices, knowledge, and advocacy to educate our WA State Legislators on the critical issues facing our clients, communities, and profession.  The MSWSA, with the BASW student association, coordinates student participation in Lobby Days at the Capital in Olympia, WA.  Travel and housing in Olympia is coordinated with the ASEWU (Associated Students of EWU), the NASW-WA, or with Spokane based social justice organizations.  Watch for Lobby Day plans in late fall or early winter quarter. To get involved, contact the Legislative Liaison.
  • Social Work Month
