Dr. Nick Franco (he/him/his) is a queer, feminist, multiracial, cisgender man with passions for empowering student populations, promoting and expanding equity, and engaging in meaningful and intersectional social justice initiatives. He started in his role as the EWU Pride Center Manager in October 2015.
Dr. Franco has a number of years of student affairs experience in the areas of sorority and fraternity life, student conduct, and residential life. Prior to arriving at EWU, he worked at the University of San Diego coordinating a collaborative program that helped higher education leadership graduate students make deeper connections between theory and practice.
Dr. Franco earned his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego, where his dissertation research explored the minority resource eligibility of multiracial college students with one white parent and one parent of color. He received a master’s degree in women’s studies from San Diego State University and a bachelor’s degree in social work and women’s studies from California State University, Sacramento, where he co-founded the first queer-friendly and gender non-specific fraternity in the nation (Kappa Iota Nu).
