NEW Fitness Facility available the Spokane campus!
In response to your feedback, EWU has opened a fitness facility at the Spokane campus in the Health Education and Research Building (SHER) on the second floor! Students who are enrolled in at least one class at the Spokane campus are eligible to utilize the facility with a prox-enabled ID card during the academic term that they are enrolled. In the center, you will find:
- Cardio Machines
- Weight Machines
- Free Weights
To get access, you will need a prox-enabled ID card that is activated with WSU Campus Security. Please learn more about EagleCard Access at: https://sites.ewu.edu/spokaneservices/eaglecard/.
In addition, participants will be required to sign a release form at Security prior to use.
FREE Health and Wellness Activities
The WSU Nutrition & Exercise Physiology Program offers a variety of FREE health and wellness activities to the community that include: group exercise classes, one-on-one wellness coaching, healthy living workshops, and food demonstrations. EWU University Recreation Center (URC)
The URC is a three level, 117,699 sq. ft. recreational facility with a gymnasium, ice arena, climbing wall and restaurant. Located on the Cheney campus, the URC is open to all EWU students, alumni, staff and community members. Students have access to the URC throughout the academic year at no extra cost beyond the Recreation Center Fee (paid every quarter or semester). Alumni, staff, and community members can purchase a membership at the individual and family level.
The Spokane Campus offers a lunchtime yoga class in the Health Education and Research Building. Check the WSU Wellness page often for up to date, day, time, and location.
There are a number of gyms in the university district that offer discounts to students.
On the edge of campus, the Centennial Trail offers a paved trail that generally runs along the Spokane River. The trail is 37.5 miles long from the Idaho State Line to Nine Mile Falls, Washington with its center running through downtown Spokane’s Riverfront Park. With beautiful views of the river, this trail is perfect for biking, running or walking!
Kayak or canoe down the Spokane River! EPIC Adventures on the Cheney campus offers low-cost rentals to students.
EPIC Adventures is an organization on the EWU campus that creates outdoor trips and events for EWU students at all skill levels. Don’t have the right equipment or know-how? No problem! EPIC offers classes and equipment rentals too. The trip event calendar becomes available in early September. Spots fill up fast so sign up early!
Sports & Teams
Every year students in Spokane choose to participate in Club and Intramural Sports at the Cheney campus.
